Mister Moneybags by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward Release Day Blitz/Review Tour: Sarah & Lauren's 2¢!

IMG_5273I met Bianca in an elevator.

She was on her way to interview me when we got stuck.

The beautiful, raven-haired reporter assumed I was a delivery guy because of the way I was dressed.

She had no clue I was really Dex Truitt, the wealthy, successful businessman she’d dubbed “Mister Moneybags”—her afternoon appointment.

Bianca told me how much she hated Dex’s type—snobby, over educated, silver- spooned men who didn't appreciate the simple things in life.

So, after the elevator finally started moving again, I cancelled the interview and let her believe I was someone I wasn’t—a bike messenger named Jay. I loved the way she looked at the fake me and didn't want it to end.

I began dating her as “Jay”—all the while letting her interview the real me over email.

I didn’t expect that our chemistry online would be just as hot.

I didn’t expect the mess I’d gotten myself into.

I didn’t expect that Jay and Dex would fall in love with her.

And she was falling for two men.

Only, both men were me.

And when she found out, we were both going to lose her.

Nothing could have prepared me for that day. And I certainly wasn't prepared for what came after.

All good things must come to an end, right? Except our ending was one I didn't see coming.

Mister Moneybags is Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward's latest release in their always entertaining Cocky Bastard series. It is a complete standalone with no interconnecting characters.

Bianca and Dex meet in a chance encounter when an elevator malfunctions. He's got secrets, she's in the dark, but there's so much more to the story! Vi and Penelope slay with their signature romantic comedy style, but there are SO many twists and turns in the story, you're left asking "what's going to happen next?" on every page turn.

Dex's secret that we think is the only plot is revealed pretty early on and the story only gets better from there. One thing that's really different from their other books is the slow burn. The. Slow. Burn. Wow! The story wasn't lacking at all, and I wasn't hoping for anything to get moving along because the chemistry between Dex and Bianca as well as their banter was just that good!

As always, I can't wait to read more from this awesome writing duo.

I’ll be honest, I measure each of Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward’s books against the first, Cocky Bastard. I’m a bastard like that. While Mister Moneybags was entertaining, with a few twists and turns, it didn’t quite measure up to the original. But then again, that rarely happens.

For me, the story took a little hit right away. When some dude I don’t know, in an elevator filled with darkness, calls me a bitch, all bets are off. The man would be lucky to leave with his testicles, forget about a date. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy the banter and slow burn between the characters. And while a giant liar-face, it was hard not to sympathize with Dex’s situation.

Vi and Penelope, thank you for not carrying the two for one deal -Dex/Jay-out for the entire novel. In case you’re wondering, this book is much more than some dude with two personas. It’s much, much more. Which I found both surprising and relieving.

While Mister Moneybags wasn’t my favorite of the series of stand-alones *cough cough* Cocky Bastard *cough cough* It was definitely high on the list. I do wish this dynamic duo had delved a little deeper. Caroline could have been used to shake things up a little more. You can’t tell me that she doesn’t have a few more devious bones in her body. It would have been fun to put them to use.

All-in-all, much like the rest of this wildly successful series, Mister Moneybags is worth the read.  Go ahead and exercise that one-click finger. You won’t regret it.
