Lover is the latest standalone from duo Gia Riley and Marni Mann. It has no interconnecting characters. I've been a reader of Marni's for a couple of years now, but haven't read anything from Gia. When I read the blurb for Lover, I knew this was something I needed to read and was not disappointed!

Piper is struggling to make her marriage work. She knows there are underlying issues, but her husband Cannon can't see it and together, they're skating by day to day. She takes a leap and decides that bringing another couple into the mix might help reignite the spark they used to have.

West and Tilly have a volatile marriage, based around sex. They get along just fine but there's no real passion. Because Tilly is so adventurous, she thinks swinging would be fun for them. What she doesn't think about is the fact that her husband and his new lover may have feelings for each other until after the fact.

I loved this book! Like, I loved it. I've got to be completely honest, I have a thing for these types of stories. Not sure why. West and Piper were so passionate towards each other and it was so well written, I found it hard to put the book down. Cannon was obviously hiding something, but I wasn't expecting the bombshell when it was dropped. Wow! And really, Tilly was kind of the worst. She didn't deserve West one bit.

Marni and Gia's co-writing flowed naturally as if Lover was written by a single author. I love when you can't tell who's writing which part! As I find myself itching to re-read this book, I can't wait to read more from these two!

After tonight, she’ll know how gorgeous she is, and she’ll know how incredible a man can make her feel. And, when she looks at her husband, she’ll expect more from him.

I know shit between them isn’t as hot as what Tilly and I have. Cannon doesn’t look at Piper like he wants to take her clothes off with his teeth and have his mouth live between her legs. He gazes at her like he wants to ask where they’re going to dinner and what movie they’ll see after.

There’s a difference between fucking your best friend and someone who actually worships your body.

Piper will soon know the latter.

And that’s why she’s here. To know what it feels like to be with a man who lusts for her cunt.
