Goodbye Paradise is Sarina Bowen's latest venture into M/M territory. It's a complete standalone but mentions a few things about Zach from Keepsake, but reads perfectly by itself.
Josh and Caleb escaped a religious cult to live life on their own in the free world. We follow their story of hitchhiking, learning about life outside of religion and coming into their own as a couple.
I know I rated this book three stars and that's abnormal for me considering my love for Sarina's writing. It is a great story, I'd love to even have more from them in the future. The only thing that truly rubbed me the wrong way was Caleb's sexual prowess. I'm not adverse to alpha males, I love them. I just didn't understand why and how Caleb knew so much about sex, sex terms, etc. while living in a cult for his entire life? They were sexually repressed. They'd never kissed each other let alone a woman before but Caleb just had all the bases covered. That was a slip for me.
As I stated previously, I absolutely adore Sarina's writing and enjoyed this story. I'm not discounting it at all and you may love the book and find my negative point to be moot and dumb, that's the great thing about books! No two people read the same thing.
