Admittedly, Camden’s
Redemption is the first book I’ve ever read of L.P. Dover’s. Imagine my
surprise when I realized that it was it was book #4 in a series. Oops… While I
don’t think it’s completely necessary to read the first three, it definitely
would have helped. If I’d have read them – like a good little girl – I would
have probably had a firm grasp on how much of an ass Camden was and how much
his redemption really meant to the story line.
“I’m not the kind of guy you can trust, Brooklyn. It’d do well for you to remember that,” he murmured.
Camden is an ex fighter, the MMA kind. He’s been hiding from
some pretty heinous man named Scar; he apparently wants to kill Camden for
ratting him out about something called The Dark Side. It doesn’t sound like a
happy place… Brooklyn Avery has been assigned as his “bodyguard”, one that
Camden doesn’t even know exists. She’s a
cop - a damn good at that. When Camden has to move again in order to stay safe,
Brooklyn moves with him. In a chance encounter their paths finally cross. What
starts out as friendship leads to something more. When things get serious,
Camden runs…again.
“You’re not scaring me, Cam. Redemption is around every corner, you just have to be willing to work for it.”
I enjoyed Camden’s
Redemption. It was a quick read, and once I realized what exactly was going
on, it had no trouble holding my attention. If I had taken the time to read the
first three book, I can guarantee that I would have probably found the story
more interesting. I really appreciated the fact that Brooklyn was such a
strong, capable woman. It’s not every day that a woman is trusted to protect an
ex-UFC fighter. High-five, Ms. Dover. I really appreciate the equality move
there.
What I learned from reading Camden’s? Chicks can kick some
major ass (okay… I already knew that) and that I need to read books 1-3. If you
have read the series, I’m sure you’ll appreciate this book. If you haven’t, I
encourage you to do so, especially if you like hot muscular alpha-ish men.

his forehead to mine, he closed his eyes and squeezed them tight. “How can you
love me?” he asked, his voice gruff. “I do fucked up things that hurt the
people closest to me. I can’t promise you that’ll change.”
“No,
but you can promise me you’ll try. That’s good enough for me.”
His
heated gaze landed on mine, his breaths deep and raspy. The raw energy
radiating from him made me tremble in anticipation. “You just fucked up,
buttercup,” he growled low. Lifting me in his arms, he carried me off the dock and
laid me down on the grass, his body hard on top of mine.
“Why
is that?” I whispered. He pushed his cock against me and I moaned, desperately
aching to feel him inside me.
“You
have awakened something I never knew existed. It rips at my soul and scares the
fuck out of me, yet it also makes me feel alive. I don’t want to let it go. I
don’t want to let you go.” Lowering
his head, he kissed my cheek and trailed his lips down to my neck.
“What
are you saying?” I asked.
He
brushed his thumb across my lips and lifted his head. “I don’t know if what I
feel is love. I’ve never had it before. But goddamn, it sure does feel like it.
Whatever happens between us, I can’t let it end. Tell me you don’t want it to.”
I moaned as he lifted my tank top and bra and tossed them
to the ground. “I want us to be together, Camden. We don’t know what’s going to
happen once everything’s over, but I can promise you my love will not change .
. . even when you go back home.”
