FOR NOW (Rules of Love, #2) by Chelsea M. Cameron Tour, Review, + Giveaway!

Two people. A one-night stand. What could go wrong?

Javier Cruz definitely isn’t relationship material, but that suits Hazel Gellar just fine. She’s not a relationship girl and doesn’t plan on ever being one.

But after a mind-blowing, panty-ripping, bed-breaking night, she knows once isn’t going to be enough. Fortunately, Javi feels the same way. Soon, what started as just one night turns into a lot of nights, and Hazel doesn’t know what to do.

Will she and Javi make the choice to be together for longer than just right NOW?

Okay.  Stop everything. Well, not everything. Continue reading…

Javier...

I kinda had this vision of Javier from reading For Real (Rules of Love, #1).  I saw him as this big, beefy, cocky asshole. He was more concerned about getting his jollies off than who was helping achieve said jollying. He was the quintessential bad boy… Until For Now. In For Now, Javier has grown a much larger heart and conscience. When did this happen? I guess it started to expand at the end of For Real… I just didn’t think it had grown that much.

Javier has a thing for Hazel, and Hazel has a firm distaste for relationships. She doesn’t do them. Then again, neither did Javier…until he made like the Grinch and his heart quadrupled in size. Most of the story involves Javier chasing Hazel around. Well, maybe there wasn’t so much chasing… It was more like apartments/bed crashing (both literally and figuratively.) It was sweet and made Javier exponentially more likable.

“You like to make yourself at home, don’t you?” I say, dumping the dustpan in the trash and then putting the broom away.
“Your place is nicer than mine. And my place doesn’t have you in it. So.”

As you have probably already guess, Javier and Hazel start getting hot and heavy. This scares Hazel to some extent, because, as I stated earlier, she doesn’t do relationship. Ever. That brings about a little tension between the two.  But, for the most part, this book is pretty light on the angst.

My main complaint has to do with the editing, in relation to dialog. I found it hard to follow at times. By the time you read this novel, it may have all been resolved. I just had a little trouble following along because of it.

Javier has a few secrets we’re made privy to that explain a great deal about his demeanor. It’s a lot for Hazel to swallow. It would be a lot for ANYONE to swallow.

Overall, For Now was a sweet, quick read. It didn’t knock my socks off, but I also didn’t come away feeling like I wasted my time by reading it.  It’s cute. Plain and simple. I wouldn’t recommend reading this one without first reading For Real. It gives a little more back story into Javier and Hazel which can be beneficial to the reader.
