ELICIT by Rachel Van Dyken Blog Tour ~ Review, Excerpt, Teasers, Play List + Giveaway!

Cursed, numb, rejected, scorned, wicked, sinister, dark, twisted...my name is Tex Campisi and this is my legacy. I killed my father in cold blood and lost my soul right along with him.

I crave war more than peace, and I'm about to take my place in history as the youngest Capo dei Capi in the Cosa Nostra...that is until someone stops me, saves me from myself.

But the only person able to do that...is my best friends sister, Mo Abandanato, and she just ripped my heart out and asked me to hold it in my hands while she put bullets through it.

Im cursed so I did it.
I'm numb so I held it.
I'm wicked so I liked it.

I used the pain Mo caused as a catalyst to turn into my biggest nightmare--the five families greatest enemy. It's my turn to take a stand, knowing full well I'm going to lose my mind to the madness that is the American Mafia. I've always been told Blood is thicker than life. I wish I would have listened. Because regardless of who you love? You will betray. You will kill.
Blood Always Wins.
The only way out is death...yours.

I was asked not to allude to, or flat out word vomit, any spoilers. That’s usually pretty easy for me, because in my humble opinion, spoilers suck. God, Rachel, you didn’t make this easy.  There are so my possible spoilers that it makes my head spin just trying to get my thoughts together.

Deep breath in.

Breathe out.

Here we go...

Elicit is just as crazy and unpredictable as each of the books before it – maybe even more so.  We finally dive deeper into the odd relationship between Tex (Vito Niscio Campisi Jr.) and Mo (Monroe Abandonato). Thank the Lord!  All of the women in the Eagle Elite series are tough, they have to be in order to put up with their men, but Mo is just something else altogether.  Her spunky attitude and unwillingness to follow direction makes her a bit of a wild card.  Between Tex’s thirst for blood and Mo’s independent, tough girl attitude, this book is off the drama chain.

Maybe if he wasn’t so broken, I wouldn’t be so attracted. I’d always been a sucker for wounded animals…so it made sense I’d fall for a guy like Tex, one who never fit in, one who never saw the sheer beauty of the man that he was. It’s why our love made sense. I was the girl everyone protected from the ugly. And he was the ugly. Beauty and the Beast.

If you read the little preview of Elicit at the end of Entice, you know that Mo is pregnant and she’s enlisted Tex’s help. He’s agreed to pretend the baby is his regardless of the fact that he’s pretty pissed at her for sleeping with another man – once.  This is almost laughable since the man was caught with not one but TWO girls at the same damn time. Double standard much?! Tex, you’re a moron. I guess he figured that he should be her one and only – ever. Anyway, after a surprise wedding issued by Nixon, the two begin their completely dysfunctional married life. It's all very Romeo and Juliet; forbidden love between two sworn enemies.  Sometimes you just can't help what the heart wants.

Listen, I can’t spill too much more. You just need to read this book. If you haven’t read the previous books in the series, I'm sorry. Not for spoiling any of the details, but because you're missing out on one wild and crazy ride. Remedy that immediately, if not sooner. I recently saw a posting by the very talented Rachel Van Dyken. She was asked which series was her absolute favorite to write. She picked Eagle Elite.  I’m telling you, it’s great.  And completely unrealistic!  I think that actually adds to its charm.

Elite, Elect, Entice, and Elicit are ALL must reads. Each book is better than the first. Just keep in mind that these books are all over-the-top. They're fun reads.  I wish I could tell you more, but it’s simply not allowed. I’ve been sworn to secrecy. ;)

“What?” I asked wincing as the pain was starting to travel up my leg.
“Not here.” She sighed. “We need to go to your room I need you to lie down.”
Chase chuckled. “If I had a dollar—”
“What?” Mil gave him an I–will-kill-you expression. “Really, I’m dying to know.”
“Then…” Chase looked at me helplessly. “I’d only have a dollar?”
“Good answer.”
“Shit,” he mumbled under his breath.
“Come on.” Mil stood. “We’ll help you guys take Tex to his room.”
“I’m fine.” I grumbled standing again only to fall back in my chair.
“Aw, he’s like a baby giraffe.” Chase clapped. “All wobbly like.”
“Can I at least be a baby tiger?” I pleaded. “My pride and all that.”
“Baby tigers are so cute.” Mil grinned.
“Just kidding. I want to be a baby tarantula.”
“Too late.” Mil sighed happily. “Baby tiger it is.”
Mo hid a smile behind her hand before grabbing the kit. Chase moved to the side of the chair and helped me to my feet. “Try not to like my touch too much, man. Remember I’m married.”
“I’ll try to keep my penis at bay.” I said dryly.
“That’s really all I ask.” Chase grunted as he helped me walk down the hall. “Well that and keeping it in your pants.”
“I can’t even walk, I won’t rape you, dude.”
“One can never be too cautious,” Chase sang.
Once we were in my room, Chase dropped me onto the bed. It squeaked under my weight.
