Evie Jamieson, a former wild child, is not only a headstrong, smart-mouthed trouble magnet, she is also a lead singer with a plan. That plan involves relocating her band, including her two best friends guitarist Henry and band manager Mac, to Sydney to kick off their dreams of hitting the big time.

Jared Valentine is the older brother of Evie’s best friend Mac and also the man determined to make Evie his. They strike up a long distance friendship which suits Evie because she’s determined to avoid the distraction of love, not only because it doesn’t fit in with her plan but because twice in the past it has left her for dead. Moving to Sydney however, has put her directly in Jared’s path and he has decided it’s the perfect opportunity to make his play.

Unfortunately Jared, co-owner in a business that ‘consults’ in dangerous hostage and kidnapping situations, makes an enemy who’s determined to enact revenge. When this enemy puts Evie in his sights, Jared not only has a fight on his hands to make her his own, but also to keep her alive.

Is accepting the love he’s so desperate to give worth the risk to both her heart…and her life?

Twenty-four year old rock goddess Genevieve Jamieson, better known as Evie, has been avoiding love like the plague. She’s had two miserable attempts at the dreaded L word. Neither ended well. Both Asshole Keller and Wild Renny broke her heart and in doing so sealed her fate. Dorks are where it’s at. They’re safe, and right now, safe is all Evie can afford.

That’s exactly why Jared is definitely a no, no. He’s everything she desperately wants and ultimately won’t let herself have. Years ago, when Evie moved in with Mackenzie “Mac” Valentine, she was surprised to find Jared, one of Mac’s older brothers, standing on the doorstep of their apartment. It was almost impossible for her to breathe he was so attractive. In that moment she knew that she would have to do everything in her power to avoid him.

Fast forward a few years. Mac (band manager and BFF), Henry (the other BFF), the rice bubbles (the three other band members – Cooper, Jake and Frog) and Evie all find themselves moving to Sydney to further their band’s career. It’s a scary move for more than the obvious. You see, Jared lives and works in Sydney and after their most recent run in, he may be expecting more than friendship from Evie.  He works as a consultant, which is apparently a fancy word for all around bad ass.  Evie’s brother, Coby, his own brother, Travis and a few other men make up a bad ass brigade. They head up hostage negotiations, leap tall buildings in a single bound, you get the idea. When something goes wrong, and a disgruntled man goes after Evie, all hell breaks loose. Now not only is Evie’s heart on the line, her life is as well.

His body was strong, his skin warm, and touching it kept getting better and better.  He made me feel safe, wanted, and treasured.  No one had ever made me feel that way before, and I wanted him to feel the same.  I wanted to erase the fear in his eyes and replace it with heat and desire.

All right, let’s get down to business. Since this novel is set in Australia, the terminology threw me for a loop a couple of times. Thank the Lord for context clues. Once I got past those differences, I was able to fully enjoy the storyline. The supporting characters where amazing. Honest. Mac and Henry kept me laughing, and imagining the badass brigade in action, well, that was an added bonus. Some areas the story seemed to drag on a bit. There was a lot of back and forth on Evie’s side. It’s completely understandable that she would do all in her power to avoid any more heartbreak. Lord knows the girl had been through enough of it. Putting your heart on the line is scary. Fearing that person may abandon you like so many others have is even worse.

The depth of my feelings for Jared were only getting deeper, and right at that moment I knew that even a lifetime with this man would not be enough.

Needless to say, Give Me Love, is a pretty emotional read.  It took a couple days to get through it, which is crazy for me. I can usually whip through a book in less than 24 hours. The pace was a little slow for my taste. I like things to move along rather quickly, and while I can’t say there were any true lulls in the story, it just didn’t flow as well as I would have liked. That being said, the overall story was fabulous. I loved Evie and Mac, and their feisty personalities. The banter between those two made the book that much more enjoyable.  Jared almost seemed like an anchor, holding everyone in place. Bringing a steading element to the cast of characters.  He’s brave, determined and sexy as hell. What more could you ask for?

While this wouldn’t my first choice for a reread, I have no qualms in recommending it to you. There are twists and turns throughout the story, keeping you on your toes. There are portions of the book that will make your heart soar, and others that will make it feel as if it’s plummeted to the very bottom of your stomach. If you don’t already have it on your list of book to read, give it a chance. I think that you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
